How to remove docky icon from Docky

Okay, so this post is an extension to one of my previous post about setting up Docky in LXDE and XFCE and which, by the way, is getting a lot of traffic lately 🙂

Here is a screenshot of my desktop with Docky:

Now, to remove docky icon from Docky, the first thing that you have to do is install gconf-editor, which can be installed on Ubuntu by typing :

sudo apt-get install gconf-editor

Next, fire up gconf-editor, either by using Alt+F2 or by using some utility like Synapse. I use Synapse because I find it very handy.

Now, inside gconf-editor,  go to apps -> docky-2 -> Docky -> Items -> DockyItem and uncheck ShowDockyItem.

Now, you can enjoy Docky without the docky icon.

Finally, if you want to access Docky settings that you would’ve done from Docky icon, hover with your mouse on Docky until the first icon gets enlarged and then click just before the first icon.

That’s it for now guys.
